Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie

My breakfast habits aren't consistent; some days I'm happy with a quick bowl of Cheerios and milk, others only an egg will satisfy, while still others demand cold pad thai (don't knock till you've tried it). But I also tend not to like eating in the first hour I've been awake. It feels too rushed. Unfortunately, this makes eating during the week a bit tricky. I need a meal that can be prepared quickly because I'm generally eating it during the time I should be brushing my teeth before I leave for work.

So when I found this recipe for a chocolate peanut butter smoothie, you can bet I was excited to try it out. Chocolate and peanut butter in the morning? Prep time under five minutes? Chocolate and peanut butter in the morning? (This point needs to be repeated)

Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie

While this recipe isn't exactly unhealthy, it's not one you should have every morning either. In the future I'd like to try adding some vanilla protein powder for some added umph. I think this recipe would play well with non-dairy milks such as soy or almond milk as well. I used a frozen banana and it worked magnificently. When you blend a frozen banana, it gets very thick and creamy, which adds body to the drink. I ran out of smooth peanut butter the second time I drank it and used crunchy instead, which did lead to some moments of chewing my drink, but it was still super tasty! I mean really - chocolate and peanut butter, how can you go wrong?

Ingredients:

1 banana
2 tablespoons smooth or crunchy peanut butter
1- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 to 1 cup milk

Equipment:
Blender

Mix all ingredients well in the blender and enjoy!
